Life’s Playbook #4

Treat people how you would like to be treated.

I am certain you have heard of this phrase at least once in your waking existence. It’s only reasonable that if you want to be treated with respect, then you would need to reciprocate those actions.

Why should I treat people with respect?

No one really likes to be disrespected. It’s not a good feeling, and it really doesn’t help any situation. You should treat people with respect, because it affects what happens around you and shows who you are as an individual.

Note: If you’re one of those people, who are completely okay with being treated poorly in return, then you do you. But, please don’t sit next to me. I’m fragile and I bruise easily. I’m not a fan of negativity.

Karma is a thing.

I’m a believer in karma; if you do bad things to people, you’ll receive bad things from people. So, if you give people attitude and negativity, don’t be surprised if you get it back.

No one owes you anything. If you are a person who doesn’t like to be hurt, then you shouldn’t be hurting others either (intentional or not). For example:

If you don’t want to be cheated on. Don’t cheat on others.

If you don’t want to be lied to. Don’t lie to others.

If you don’t want to be ignored when you need someone. Don’t ignore others when they need you.

End Scene:

There’s always going to be that person you treat well, but gives you shit in return. Those people don’t need to be in your life. Whether it’s a stranger or an acquaintance, it’s fair to say if they give you shit, then you can either ‘return the favor’ or cut them out of your life.

– Charlotte T.

Food for thought: Why do people feel the need to be intentionally disrespectful to others? What did they ever do to you?
